Baiyunshan May Day Culture & Tourism Themed Events Concluded Successfully

During the May Day holiday, Baiyunshan, core part of Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark, launched a series of culture and tourism activities at Xianfu Square under the theme Intangible Heritage atop Cloud Peaks: Wonders Unfold at Honglou. The events drew large numbers of visitors, creating a bustling and lively atmosphere across the geopark.

Centering on the display and interactive experience of She ethnic group’s intangible cultural heritage, the activities featured live performances of two traditional She stunts — Walking on Blades and Honglou Ritual. Presented by heritage inheritors, the thrilling yet solemn shows won wide acclaim from tourists. A folk market was also set up, showcasing three treasures of the She people, distinctive cultural and creative products, as well as Tanyang bear tea, diversifying visitors’ cultural consumption experience. In addition, fun activities including football games, dart challenges and clown parades were arranged to cater to tourists of all ages.

To offer an immersive cultural experience, on-site activities such as She-style toast etiquette experience and She delicacy making demonstrations were held, allowing visitors to get up close to and learn about traditional customs and food culture of the She community. Meanwhile, the iconic potholes, a unique natural landscape of Baiyunshan, became a major highlight. Tourists flocked here to explore, take photos and enjoy the cool breeze, marveling at the extraordinary craftsmanship of nature.

These events fully showcased the abundant culture and tourism resources of Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark as well as the charm of She intangible cultural heritage. They have further boosted the geopark’s reputation and appeal, and fostered a safe, orderly and joyous festive environment.
