Founded in 2009, Pingnan Farming-and-Scholarship Culture Museum of Fujian was approved by the Fujian Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage and registered with the Fujian Provincial Department of Civil Affairs in November 2017, becoming the first non-state-owned museum in Ningde City.
Housed in 13 ancient residences of the Ming and Qing dynasties in Jitou Village—a China National Historical and Cultural Village—the museum covers a combined exhibition and storage area of over 3,000 square meters. It consists of 11 thematic exhibition halls, including the Historical Relics Hall, Farming Culture Hall, Woodcarving Masterpieces Hall, Ancient Household Items Hall, Traditional Education and Folk Crafts Hall, Folk Bamboo Ware Hall, Integrity and Incorruptibility History Hall, Folk Customs Exhibition Hall, and Farming-and-Scholarship Experience Center.
As of 2022, the museum’s collection has reached 3,000 pieces/sets. Statistics show that it received over 68,000 visitors in 2021 and has maintained a year-round free admission policy. Its founder, Zhang Shuyan, systematically showcases cultural heritage such as traditional farming tools and household utensils through a combination of physical exhibits and interactive experiences.
