Chixi Village is an ethnic She administrative village under the jurisdiction of Panxi Town, Fuding City. Nestled deep in the mountains of eastern Fujian, it lies at the southwest foot of Mount Taimu—a national 5A-level scenic area and a UNESCO Global Geopark. The Jiuli Stream and Xiashan Stream meander through the village, boasting distinctive stream and waterfall landscapes as well as crystal-clear water. This makes Chixi Village a picturesque and idyllic countryside destination embraced by mountains and rivers, with fresh and clean air.

In 1984, a reader’s letter depicting the impoverished conditions of the ethnic She hamlet in Xiashan Stream, Chixi Village, was published on the front page of People’s Daily. This marked the launch of large-scale, organized poverty alleviation efforts across China, earning Chixi Village the reputation as "China’s First Village of Poverty Alleviation".

After three decades of arduous exploration and practice—including a decade of "blood transfusion" poverty alleviation through direct support, a decade of "blood replacement" poverty alleviation via relocation, and a decade of "blood generation" poverty alleviation through the "tourism plus industry" model—Chixi Village has blazed a development trail featuring "prospering the village through tourism, strengthening the village through agriculture, rooting the village in culture, and beautifying the village through ecology".
